Matt Simmons

 

Mission: To develop attitude and skills while also helping young athletes reach their dreams of playing basketball at a high level. 

Matt was part of back-to-back 5A State Championship teams at Great Bend High School in 2005 and 2006. During that time he was named to the Wichita Eagle and Topeka Capital Journal's First Team All-Classes. He was named the WAC player of the year and First Team All-5A in 2007. Matt is also Great Bend's all time leading rebounder and shot blocker. Matt was a two year starter at Barton Community College and part of a team that won the Jayhawk Conference in 2009. He finished his collegiate career at Fort Hays State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree and was part of team that won the MIAA Tournament Championship in 2011. Matt was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-Conference in 2012. After college, Matt joined the Great Bend High School basketball staff until he moved to Topeka in 2017. He is a PE teacher and currently working on his Masters Degree in Education.

Matt will be the head coach of the 16U SSA Elite White.
